Dr. Sreevalsan J Menon is a highly accomplished artist from Kerala.  An 'A' grade artist of All India Radio, he has given concerts and lecture demonsytrations all over India and abroad.  He gave a highly emotive concert for Nadasurabhi on 15th March at Indian Heritage Academy Hall, which was fully packed.  He chose most appealing ragas and popular compositions in those.  He planned the concert in a very interesting way, presenting each raga alapana briefly, but broad enough to cover the salient features.  The neraval lines he chose for each composition was very striking and meaningful.  The swara prastharam was included for almost every song, which was not too complicated yet reaveled interesting patterns.  His choice of 'Rama ninnu nammina' was most welcome as it has been heard very rarely in a concert.  Neraval for sri ragam at Ramabhaktudaina Thyagaraja was brilliant.  Simhendra Madhyamaa was the main ragam for elaboration.  The song that followed was very melodious.  On the whole it was a very pleasant concert.

Vidushi Charulatha Ramanujam, one of the most sought after violinists in Karnataka did extremely well, bringing out the 'bhava' of each raga very well.  She received all the applause, most deservingly.  Vidwan R.S.R. Sreekanth was all attentive and gave excellent support, which was appreciated by Dr. Menon himself throughout.  Senior Ghatam artist Vidwan S.N.Narayana Murthy is a seasoned artist and didnot have any difficulty in providing very good support and raising the quality of the concert.
