Sri S.G.Balakrishna Mridangam

Sri. Srinidhi Kaushik, disciple of Vidwan R.K.Padmanabha presented the final concert of the three day youth festival. Endowed with a rich voice, Srinidhi made an extremely impressive presentation. He chose to present the few opening numbers, Darbar varnam, Poorvikalyani Gnanamosagarada and Sama Annapoorne, briefly and went on to the detailed elaboration of the Bhairavi raga. The structuring, building up and tempo variations of the alapana were comparable to that of any senior artist. He did full justice to the grand composition Upacharamu of Thyagaraja. Once again delving deep into neraval and swara prasthara at Kapata NaatakaSootradhari, Srinidhi shone much beyond his young age. The haunting Hindolam piece Dasa Dasara Maneya Dasanu Dasa, the concluding piece, stayed in the memory of the listeners, long after the conclusion of the concert. There is no doubt that we will be seeing him on the concert stage frequently in the years to come and he will also probably tighten up the little lapses in sruti by continued training under the able guidance of RKP.
