Nadasurabhi conducts the highest quality music concerts every month and a week-long Annual Festival in November, free of charge to all rasikas. Our other events include a youth festival, Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa Aradhana, and music competitions for children.

Description

Nadasurabhi, for the fourth successive year, will be conducting a Carnatic Vocal Music Competition for children between ages 8 and 15 (Date of Birth between 18.5.1997 and 18.5.2004).

Details:

I. Date and Venue: 19th May 2012- Saturday at Indian Heritage Academy Hall, 6th Block, Near Police Station, Koramangala, Bangalore

II. Timing of Competition: a. For senior batch children with Date of Birth from 18.5.1997 to 18.5.2000 it is at 10 A.M.

b. For junior batch children with Date of Birth from 19.5.2000 to 18.5.2004 it is at 4 P.M.

Participants are requested to be present at least 20 minutes before the scheduled time.

V. Due to time constraints, only 25 participants/batch will be accepted on first come first serve basis. So, kindly register at the earliest. Last Date for registrations will be 10th May 2012 or once the 25 places are filled up whichever is earlier.

VI. All participants are required to bring their proof of age at the time of the competition.

VII. Each participant is expected to sing ONE carnatic song within a maximum duration of 5 minutes.

VIII. Participants should bring their own Sruti box.

Report on the event

 Nadasurabhi, for the fourth year in succession conducted a Children’s vocal music competition on 19th May 2012-Saturday.

  The response from participants was so overwhelming that it had to be divided into two sessions, one starting from 10 AM for children in the age group of 12-15 and another starting at 4 PM for children in the age group of 8-11. Each session was judged by a panel of two judges, who were eminent persons in the field.

Supported by sponsors Sri.Visweswara and Smt. Leelavathi, there were lots of prizes to be won. As announced by the organizers and reinforcing the concept that all the children are winners and there are no losers, individual “Participation Certificates” with the participant’s name printed on it were presented to each child, along with individual gifts. Also the top eight winners, were presented with books. The top three winners, in addition to the other gifts, also got "Trophies",  “Cash Vouchers” and “Winner Certificates”. Known for their innovation, the organizers also introduced a Quiz of simple questions to the children at periodic intervals and those who answer were given special gifts! Sumptuous snacks were also provided to all the participants as well as their parents/guardians. There was an overall atmosphere of celebration and satisfaction.
