Nadasurabhi Cultural Association located in Koramangala, Bangalore is in the forefront of promoting Classical Carnatic Music. Nadasurabhi conducts the highest quality music concerts every month and a week-long Annual Festival in November, free of charge to all rasikas. Our other events include a youth festival, Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa Aradhana, and music competitions for children.

Nadasurabhi continues its Music Education Initiative- Announcing Course 8.

Nadasurabhi is pleased to announce its Eighth course under the Education initiative to conduct high level music courses.

Details are as follows:

Guru: Sri.Rama Varma

Course Content: A Selection from the Compositions of Maharaja Swathi Tirunal , M.D.Ramanathan, Dr.M.Balamuralikrishna, Annamacharya, Purandaradasa, Bhadrachala Ramadasa,  Kaiwara Amara Nareyana and others as the course develops.

Dates and timing:

October 2nd, Friday – 3.30 pm onwards  (Minimum 2 hours)

October 3rd ,Saturday- 3.30 pm onwards  (Minimum 2 hours)

October 4th , Sunday- 3.30 pm onwards  (Minimum 2 hours)

 

October 10th   , Saturday- 3.30 pm onwards  (Minimum 2 hours)

October 11th , Sunday- 3.30 pm onwards  (Minimum 2 hours)

Minimum 10 songs will be taught.

Course fee per participant is Rs.2,000 payable in cash or NEFT bank transfer in advance. Registration will be confirmed on receipt of payment. There can be no refund of fees after registration.

About Sri.Rama Varma

Prince Rama Varma, a member of the Royal Family of Travancore, is a direct descendant of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma and Raja Ravi Varma.  Falling in love with music at an early age, Sri.Rama Varma studied music first with Prof.Vechoor Hariharasubramania Iyer for 14 years, until his demise in 1994. At present he is undergoing training under Sangeethakalanidhi Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna and has gone on to become one of his foremost disciples. Besides vocal music, Sri.Rama Varma is also an eminent vainika He studied veena under Trivandrum Sri. R.Venkataraman for five years before joining Sri. K.S.Narayanaswamy, who taught him until his demise.        

 Teacher: Fluent in Malayalam, English, Hindi, Tamil and French, Varma is well read and has travelled widely and uses inputs from walks of life other than music too to enrich his art. His music is noted for its strict adherence to tradition coupled with his own charming brand of creativity. He specializes in taking classes and giving lecture demonstrations about various aspects of music to much appreciation and delight from his students and members of the public. He believes in making his lectures entertaining and his concerts informative.  

 Organiser:   During the past decade he has proved himself to be an organizer of merit by organizing a week long festival of South Indian and North Indian Classical Music which is open to the public, at the palace of his ancestor Maharaja Swathi Thirunal in Trivandrum from the 6th till the 12th of January every year. He proved his dynamism as an organizer and visionary yet again recently by spearheading the move to allow women inside the Navarathri Mandapam, both as performers and as listeners too, breaking more than three centuries of that tradition. He is a indeed a worthy descendent of his illustrious predecessor Maharaja Swathi Thirunal who is described as the 


“Prince among musicians and a Musician among Princes”
