About the Guru 

Dr. Shertally K.N.RENGANATHA SHARMA M.A.,M.Phil.,PhD,renowned Vocal Artiste in the field of Carnatic Music was born on 30th December 1966 to Smt Lakshmi Ammal and Sangeetha Acharya K.Narayana Iyer. From a very early age itself Sharma was exposed to the world of Carnatic music. He has been groomed under the guidance and training in the 'Guru Kula' system of his father who belongs to 'Semmangudi Tradition'  

Dr.Sharma secured his graduation and post graduation in Music from Calicut University with First Rank and pursued his M.Phil Degree at Madras University(1990). He accomplished his Doctoral Degree at Madurai Kamaraj University focused on "Analytical Study on Various laya aspects in Carnatic music"(2007).   

Dr.Sharma served as Professor and later Principal at 'Sri Sathguru Sangeetha Vidhyalayam', College of music Madurai Tamilnadu, affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University. He recently took voluntary retirement and moved to Chennai as a full time performing artist.   

Dr.Sharma is an 'A'Grade Artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan since 1992. Dr Sharma has been performing under the auspices of many leading music Sabhas in Chennai and Bangalore during the December music Festival. He has performed on several occasions in the Nadasurabhi stage as well.    

With a Concert and teaching career extending over three decades, Sharma is also engaged in conducting lecture demonstrations, workshop on different aspects of Carnatic music.

About The Guru    

Vidushi Gayathri Girish has been recognized as a great talent in carnatic music from a very young age. She has won prestigious awards from the hands of senior musicians, from Krishna Gana Sabha, Narada Gana Sabha, Indian Fine Arts and so on. She has also received titles Sangeetha Bhaskara and Gaana Ratna. She is a senior disciple of Sangita Kalanidhi Padmabhushan Sri.T.N.Seshagopalan and (Late) Sri.Vaigai S Gnanaskandan. Smt. Gayathri has done extensive research in carnatic music and has specialized thematic concert series on rare topics like ‘Compositions on Siva” and so on. She is popular in presenting lecture demonstrations on unique topics of carnatic music.

About Sri.Rama Varma

Prince Rama Varma, a member of the Royal Family of Travancore, is a direct descendant of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma and Raja Ravi Varma.  Falling in love with music at an early age, Sri.Rama Varma studied music first with Prof.Vechoor Hariharasubramania Iyer for 14 years, until his demise in 1994. At present he is undergoing training under Sangeethakalanidhi Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna and has gone on to become one of his foremost disciples. Besides vocal music, Sri.Rama Varma is also an eminent vainika He studied veena under Trivandrum Sri. R.Venkataraman for five years before joining Sri. K.S.Narayanaswamy, who taught him until his demise.   

        

Teacher: Fluent in Malayalam, English, Hindi, Tamil and French, Varma is well read and has travelled widely and uses inputs from walks of life other than music too to enrich his art. His music is noted for its strict adherence to tradition coupled with his own charming brand of creativity. He specializes in taking classes and giving lecture demonstrations about various aspects of music to much appreciation and delight from his students and members of the public. He believes in making his lectures entertaining and his concerts informative.     

Organiser:   During the past decade he has proved himself to be an organizer of merit by organizing a week long festival of South Indian and North Indian Classical Music which is open to the public, at the palace of his ancestor Maharaja Swathi Thirunal in Trivandrum from the 6th till the 12th of January every year. He proved his dynamism as an organizer and visionary yet again recently by spearheading the move to allow women inside the Navarathri Mandapam, both as performers and as listeners too, breaking more than three centuries of that tradition. He is a indeed a worthy descendent of his illustrious predecessor Maharaja Swathi Thirunal who is described as the     “Prince among musicians and a Musician among Princes”
