A brilliant concert by Vid.Gayathri Girish yesterday at Nadasurabhi. It was really good.

Awesome brindavanasaranga – mesmerizing, if I may use that expression. The alapana, the way she sang the kriti and the kalpana svara staying on the same mood that was created -beautiful.

A fast khamas before. Loved the way she sang neraval for the longer line, instead of the usual ‘premajuci napai peddamanasu jesi’. I always like it when there is a longer line taken up for neraval. Nice rounds of swaras, mostly done at the second speed. The ending sequences were very nice.

Masterly simhendramadhyamam. Lovely alapana by both the artists. Neraval at usual ‘pannagendra shayana’. Gayathri did some classy glides/slides and shakes towards the later part of the neraval. A sudden switch to swaras at a lower speed – singers should allow the effect they created to sink in, before they slow the tempo and move to swaras, I think. Top class singing of swaras too.

Charulatha was very impressive as always. RSR Srikanth and Sunaad Anoor also played commendably well.

A pallavi to top it all. Technical virtuosity at core. Nice alapana and tanam. Simple pallavi line with complexities in the tala structure. Nicely executed trikalam , fast switching ragamalika swaras on and on. Very well executed.
